Speaking
When I was a child I started my calling as speaker. My grandpa had taught me many of his magic tricks before he passed away, and with my Dad’s help, I applied gospel messages to each magic trick. I would travel around our town performing as a “kid magician” and sharing truth from God’s Word. As the years went on I realized that this was a life long calling and something I would do until the day God calls me home.
Now I serve as the teaching pastor for Creekside Bible Church. In addition to my daily ministry there, I also travel and speak to youth, young adults and adults on various biblical passages and topics. I’ve been traveling the world speaking since 1999. God willing, I will be able to continue to speak to the local body of beleivers at Creekside, and the churched and unchurched around the world for the rest of my life. If I can be of service to you by speaking at your event, it would be my honor. Below are a few of the topics I speak on regularly, but if there is a specific way I can serve you and your people, please don’t hesitate to ask. Simply contact me with some details about you and your event and we’ll see where God take us from there. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Speaking Topics
Josh is willing and able to deliver messages based on just about any topic or biblical passage proposed. If there’s something you don’t see here, just ask him! However, Josh does have for several talks and series that he has spoken on before. Here are few of those talks:
- Dad, If You Only Knew: 8 Things Teens Want to Tell Their Father’s (but don’t): Josh delivers a powerful message based on his book entitled, “Dad, if you only knew.” He gives insightful, practical, and biblical ways both father and mothers can connect with their teens. Josh’s extensive research, combined with pointed direction from his father’s heart, provides you with the practical guidance you need to establish a healthy, thriving, parent-teen relationship.
- Honest to God: The Cure for Spiritual Schizophrenia: Christians today are struggling with living authentic lives. Hypocrisy has plagued the church as people are saying they believe in Christ yet are not living out their beliefs. Josh talks in this sermon about “A cure for Spiritual Schizophrenia,” that is acknowledging that God knows everything… so why hide anything! This sermon includes a time in Psalm 139 verse 1-12.
- The One Thing: Discovering the reason we are alive: There are many different reasons we find to live, but all too often we are left empty and purposeless when we reach the end of our vain pursuits. In this message Josh opens God’s word to discover that the one thing we should be living for is to know Christ through the upward calling of Christ Jesus our Lord.
- If Tree’s Could Talk: Lessons on Living from the Trees of the Bible: The Bible is filled with different symbolisms that are meant to teach us how we are to live and grow as followers in Christ. The thesis of this series is best contained in the opening message where Josh identified the lessons that we can learn from trees – specifically the tree written about in Psalm one. Josh explains what it means for us to have “Deep roots planted by streams of water.” He reminds us that a person devoted to God is a person devoted to God’s Word.
- Younique: How to Stand-out in a Blend-in World: We live in a world where people easily go with the flow or stick to what they have experience rather than what may be true. In this series “Younique,” Josh identified essential elements from scripture for believers to stick to in order to be different in this world.
- Pursue Purity: Our culture screams at us to indulge in selfish sin. Our understanding of what purity means is skewed by the emphasis on the physical, while the emotional and the mental are virtually ignored. In Pursue Purity, Josh reveals that desiring purity is seeking God Himself. He unpacks the Biblical challenge of making holiness a way of life. Though it is hard, God offers us His love and help as we enter the battle for purity. As we view ourselves through the lens of the Cross, we will find forgiveness, hope and strength in Christ.
- You’re Not a Kid Anymore: Lessons for Growing Up From the Life of Daniel: There comes a point when we all must grow up. In You’re Not a Kid Anymore, Josh takes us on a journey through the life of the prophet Daniel, allowing us to catch principles along the way that are both character-changing and God-honoring. This series takes a deep look at the importance of trusting God and submitting to Him, allowing us to grow up, finding our identity and significance in God alone.
- I AM: Becoming Dependent Upon God Alone: Our culture tells us that dependence is a bad thing – we should strive to care for ourselves and be dependent upon no one. But is that the way God sees it? In Exodus chapter 3 we discover the self-sufficiency of God in His command to Moses to go and free the Hebrew people. In this story we learn that God is dependent upon no one, and therefore we should be dependent upon no one but Him. In this sermon Josh strives to find the principles in the story of Moses and the burning bush to portray or need to be dependent upon God alone.
